September 3, 2019 (NEW ORLEANS) \u2013 New Orleans\u00a0area\u00a0women who need a little\u00a0extra\u00a0help entering the workforce\u00a0have\u00a0a\u00a0new group of supporters. \u00a0Members of\u00a0The Links, Incorporated\u00a0and The Links Foundation, Incorporated donated more than 200 new handbags, journals\u00a0and $5,830 to\u00a0Dress for Success New Orleans\u00a0as part of a meeting held last week in the Crescent City.<\/p>\n

Meaghan\u00a0Bonavita,\u00a0Dress for Success New Orleans\u00a0board president\u00a0received the\u00a0gift\u00a0at the group\u2019s\u00a0closing session\u00a0on Saturday, August 31, 2019.\u00a0Bonavita\u00a0called the\u00a0group\u2019s\u00a0support a key element in helping women\u00a0achieve impactful careers and financial independence.\u00a0\u201cYou are women helping women, women empowering women who don\u2019t have\u00a0resources,\u201d\u00a0she said.<\/p>\n

The Links national president,\u00a0Kimberly Jeffries Leonard, Ph.D.,\u00a0congratulated members\u00a0who\u00a0donated both items and cash as a part of their\u00a0meeting attendance.\u00a0Leonard\u00a0told members that the\u00a0gift\u00a0marks the beginning of a national partnership.\u00a0The Links, Incorporated will soon sign a\u00a0national partnership with Dress for Success and support that organization\u2019s efforts nationwide.\u00a0Cities where both The Links, Incorporated and Dress for Success have\u00a0existing\u00a0chapters will have\u00a0the\u00a0opportunity to work together. In describing Links members, Leonard cited the \u201cbeauty of their spirits,\u201d as the reason the impromptu donation was so large. Local Links members from the New Orleans (LA), Crescent City (LA) and Pontchartrain (LA) Chapters raised $1,500. Those attending the meeting donated more than 200 purses, journals, and $2,165. The Links Foundation, Incorporated matched that donation with an additional $2,165.<\/p>\n
